About

Every year at harvest time, the Chestnut Festival is held in Collobrières.
Held on the last three Sundays in October, they bring together a large number of craftspeople to showcase their skills. It's a great celebration of local produce, bringing together craftspeople, producers and artists who are selected according to quality criteria.

This event helps to promote economic and agricultural activity in Collobrières, a rural commune in the Maures mountains.

Organisation: Collobrières Town Hall

2024 programme:

Great chestnut farmers' market, French and European local produce, crafts.
Entertainment: folk music and dance, strolling music group.
Demonstration of traditional crafts (Place de la mairie): glassblower, woodturner.

Dimanche 13, journée des artisans :
Festival des vieux métiers (Place Eglise Notre Dame des Victoires) : presentation and demonstration of old-time crafts with the Giens 1900 association.

Sunday 20, International Day:
10am-Inaugural parade: delegations from the twin towns of Frabosa Sottana, Pujerra and the Japanese town of Yamae, brotherhoods, folk groups, Italian flag-wavers.
10:30am: Solemn mass at the Eglise Notre Dame des Victoires.

Sunday 27, Var producers' day:
Carré des producteurs (Place de la Mairie): a day dedicated to the best of the Var's local produce. Brazier cooking show and locavore tastings by chef Pascal Barandoni.
Free admission to the producers' square.
Fee-paying tastings: purchase a €10 "gastronomy pass" at the reception desk.
Small educational farm and introduction to weaving on the Place Notre Dame des Victoires...

As part of the Fêtes de la Châtaigne et du terroir, guided tours are organised on Saturdays in October:
- Guided tour "cork and chestnuts... then and now" with Mélanie Robeau on Saturdays 5, 19, 26 and Wednesday 30 October at 10am.
- Visit "Insects and trees" with Denis Huin on 19 October at 2pm.
- "Geological walks" tour with Laurence Lassalle on 26 October at 10am.
- "Meet the trees" tour with Vincent Blondel on 26 October at 2pm.

The Geological Museum is open on Sundays 13, 20 and 27 October from 9.30am to 1.30pm and from 3pm to 6pm.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Circulation:
Circulation prohibited within the village from 7am to 7pm on Sundays.

Parking / €2 per vehicle
- East side: Stade car park
- West side: Clos Père Louis intersection car park, shuttles to the village entrance OR pedestrian access via Chemin Godissard. Last shuttles back from the village at 7pm.
Please ensure you have enough fuel or an electric battery to get to Collobrières.

Groups:
Reserve a bus space in the Notre Dame car park. Bookings can be made at the Town Hall reception desk.

PMR: Parking Notre Dame reserved for PRMs (access only from the D14 east side).

Parking Camping-car:
Parking opposite the Stadium car park. Only one access on the day: Route de Grimaud on the east side. It is advisable to arrive the day before the event.

Bicycles:
Bicycle traffic prohibited. No cycle parking available in the village.

Dogs:
Strongly discouraged during the event.
Pushchairs :
We strongly advise against this during the event. Please bring a baby carrier.

Weekly market:
Cancelled on Sunday morning. Postponed to Saturdays 12, 19 and 26 October from 3pm to 6.30pm on the Place de la Libération.
